Knowledge worth preserving.
The late Edgar Mongold was an Ohio exhibition-poultry author whose writings encouraged exhibitors to study the APA and ABA Standards, compare birds thoughtfully and understand why show results can change with the judge, competition and the condition of the bird on that day.
His educational posts emphasized the difference between factors exhibitors can control—such as age, condition, grooming, selection and coop training—and factors they cannot control once judging begins. Bart Pals provided Edgar's writings to the MEGA Education Series so they could be preserved for future exhibitors.
Edgar was also remembered as a strong supporter of youth in poultry. The previous Education profile showed him presenting New Hampshire chicks to a youth raffle winner and described his legacy as one that continues through the people he helped.
