EXPERT BIOGRAPHY

Experience shared with the poultry community.

James Haught, DVM, grew up on a beef cattle ranch in Southern Colorado and was active in 4-H, exhibiting a variety of livestock projects. He attended Colorado State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science followed by his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2012.

He began his veterinary career in mixed-animal practice, developed a strong interest in emergency medicine and later served as a medical director for three years. Away from work, James spends time on his small farm east of Denver, where he gardens, raises cattle and chickens, breeds Australian Shepherds, volunteers with 4-H and judges county fairs.

James first acquired exhibition poultry in 2019. Since then, the prior Education profile recorded more than 150 APA points, 20,000 ASBC Master Exhibitor points and 20 star wins, along with progress toward several Master Breeder awards. The Rancho-Snowfall name honors one of his livestock mentors, Rose Snow, and reflects his belief that many sound breeding and exhibition principles carry across livestock species.

Careful breeding, daily husbandry and patient preparation are the foundation of showroom success.
