ALFA Is Here — What Is ALFA?

ALFA© is the acronym for the American Large Fowl Association, an organization formed to advance the growth, knowledge, exhibition and numbers of all eligible Large Fowl.

What Is ALFA?

ALFA© promotes both Standard and eligible Non-Standard Large Fowl. A Non-Standard Large Fowl breed or variety must be in the final stages of acceptance into the APA Standard and must have a written, approved Standard description.

ALFA© is not in competition with any other breed club or breed organization. It is designed solely to promote and build the numbers of all Large Fowl. Our goal is to be an all-inclusive Large Fowl association that increases the popularity and awareness of every eligible Large Fowl breed. We invite all breed clubs to join us in ALFA©.

ALFA© is also an Associate Club Member of the American Poultry Association.

Membership Funds and National Awards

Seventy percent of ALFA© membership fees are returned to members in the form of awards at the ALFA© National Show. The remaining 30% is retained for awards and administrative costs.

The ALFA© National Show is held each November in Norman, Oklahoma, centrally located near the crossroads of Interstate 40 and Interstate 35.

• ALFA© awards are separate from all other MEGA SHOW awards.
• ALFA© awards must be offered in addition to the host show’s normal awards and premiums.
• ALFA© champions must be owned by current ALFA© members.
• Awards and award amounts may grow as ALFA© membership increases.

The 30-Day Membership Requirement

To be eligible for ALFA© awards, a winner must have joined ALFA© at least 30 days before the MEGA SHOW. This rule is strictly enforced. Membership books close 30 days before the show and remain closed until after the MEGA SHOW.

ALFA© awards can only be won by current ALFA© members and are awarded in addition to other show awards.

Opportunities for Non-Standard Large Fowl

ALFA© gives eligible Non-Standard Large Fowl breeds and varieties an opportunity to exhibit and win while their breeders build the numbers needed for APA acceptance. These birds may compete for ALFA© awards and can advance all the way through ALFA© competition.

All Non-Standard breeds and varieties must be in the final stages of acceptance and must provide ALFA© with a copy of their approved breed or variety description so the birds can be judged according to that accepted Standard.

ALFA© shows can also provide an excellent setting for APA qualifying meets for new Large Fowl breeds and varieties.

Memberships are renewable each year on January 1. Membership must be placed in the name of the person or family paying by credit card, PayPal or another available method, unless a different member name is entered in the PayPal comments. Keep your PayPal receipt as proof of purchase.
